The Snow Leopard Expedition is a once-in-a-lifetime journey into the high-altitude trans-Himalayan region of Spiti Valley, offering a rare opportunity to track the elusive snow leopard in its natural habitat. This expedition combines raw adventure with serene mountain landscapes, quaint Himalayan villages, and ancient Buddhist heritage.
Beginning in Delhi, the tour gradually ascends through Chandigarh, Shimla, and Kalpa, allowing travelers to acclimatize before reaching the remote village of Chicham—one of the best locations in India for spotting snow leopards. Accompanied by expert trackers and naturalists, this journey offers immersive experiences in wildlife tracking, high-altitude culture, and surreal scenery.

Day 01 : Arrive in New Delhi

On arrival at New Delhi International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative, who will assist with your hotel transfer and check-in. A short briefing on travel documents and the tour schedule will be provided.
Overnight stay in Delhi.

Day 02 : Delhi – Chandigarh (by train) – Shimla (Approx. 115 km / 4 hours)

Early in the morning, proceed to New Delhi Railway Station to board the Kalka Shatabdi Express bound for Chandigarh. The journey offers a comfortable and scenic ride, taking approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes.
Upon arrival at Chandigarh Railway Station, board your private vehicle and embark on a picturesque 4- hour drive to Shimla through the scenic Shivalik foothills.
On arrival in Shimla, check in at the hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax after your journey. In the evening, you may stroll along Mall Road, a bustling promenade known for colonial architecture, handicraft shops, and cafes. Overnight stay at the hotel in Shimla.

Day 03 : Shimla – Kalpa (Approx. 215 km / 7–8 hours)

After an early breakfast, begin your drive to Kalpa, a beautiful Himalayan village nestled in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
The journey is long but scenic, offering views of terraced fields, pine forests, and the Sutlej River. Arrive in Kalpa by evening and check in at your hotel. Enjoy the crisp mountain air and the mesmerizing views of the Kinner Kailash range. Overnight stay in Kalpa.

Day 04 : Kalpa – Chicham (Approx. 230 km / 8–9 hours)

Post breakfast, depart for Chicham village, a remote high-altitude settlement in Spiti Valley and the base for your upcoming snow leopard expedition. En route, visit a beautiful monastery that offers a spiritual glimpse into local Buddhist culture.
On arrival in Chicham (altitude: 4150 m), check in at your local homestay, which will serve as your base for the next 7 nights. The evening is free to rest and acclimatize to the high altitude. Overnight stay at a homestay in Chicham.

Day 05-10 : Snow Leopard Expedition | Wildlife & Culture Photography

Over the next six days, immerse yourself in the wild and rugged beauty of the Spiti Valley, tracking the
elusive snow leopard and exploring the high-altitude landscape.

  • The itinerary remains flexible and is curated daily by your expert local wildlife guide, based
    on current weather conditions, wildlife movements, and sighting reports.
  • You’ll explore various ridges and gorges around Chicham, Kibber, and nearby regions on foot
    and vehicle-assisted treks.
  • These days also provide opportunities to engage in cultural photography, including
    interactions with locals, capturing village life, and visiting ancient monasteries.

Expect cold weather, breathtaking vistas, and the rare chance to witness snow leopards and other high-
altitude wildlife in their natural habitat. Overnight stays at the homestay in Chicham

Day 11 : Chicham – Rampur (via Gue Monastery) (Approx. 305 km / 9–10 hours)

After breakfast, begin the long drive back from Chicham to Rampur. En route, stop to visit the Gue Monastery, known for its fascinating naturally mummified monk.
The drive retraces the high mountain roads, gradually descending into the lower hills of Himachal. Overnight stay in Rampur.

Day 12 : Rampur – Chandigarh (Approx. 265 km / 9 hours) - Delhi (By Train)

After early breakfast, proceed to Chandigarh Railway Station to board your return train to New Delhi. Enjoy the changing landscapes as you transition from the Himalayan ranges to the plains of Punjab. Arrive in Delhi with unforgettable memories of the mountains, wildlife, and culture. Overnight stay at the hotel in Delhi.

Day 13 : Departure from Delhi

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
